Chants d’Amour et de Mort was commissioned by Isabelle Balot, and was first performed May 22, 1996 at the Bibliothèque Dag Hammarskjöld at the United Nations, New York City, by Patrick Lynch, tenor; Jenny Williams, violin; Yari Bond, cello; and Vladimir Valjarevic, piano. The performance was sponsored by the Association Culturelle Francophone de l’ONU (United Nations).
