platelansering av “Rehnqvist & Lindquist”
On Alpaca Ensemble’s first release on the LAWO Classics label we hear the result of their close collaboration with contemporary composers Karin Rehnqvist and Ellen Lindquist. Both composers write music that reflects on humanity’s place in a world profoundly greater than us. In the first work on the recording, Karin Rehnqvist takes the listener into outer space, while on the last track Ellen Lindquist paints us a vast landscape.

Mark Takeshi McGregor, Flutist
This first Pacific Rim solo flute concert is a co-presentation between Redshift Music Society and the Beaty Museum, and will be a part of the Museum’s “Nocturnal” series, taking place during its opening extended hours. The Beaty Museum is a striking space, boasting a 25-metre skeleton of a blue whale, suspended above the ramp that leads down to the main collections (the performance will, in fact, take place immediately beneath the whales tail — you can see images of the musuem HERE, if you’re curious). Each piece on the programme reflects on one of the museum’s permanent exhibits:

kl. 15:00 • hjemme hos Randi Nordgaard og Ragnar Hermstad • Rissa, Norge
Huskonsertene i Rissa presenterer:

(wikipedia)

Premiere: Birds
Cecilia Ekman and Roger Johansson will premiere a new piece of mine titled ‘Vingarna breddas’ (‘The wings spread’) for the latest addition to Cecilia’s ongoing concert project titled ‘Birds’. This will be the first time that she has commissioned new works as part of this project; there will also be a new work by her duo partner Roger Johansson on the concert. Slides of Hans Falklind‘s remarkable bird photographs play a central part in the creation process and in the performance.
‘Vingarna breddas’ (as well as this project overall) focuses on bird protection work, in particular for the Eurasian Skylark. Collaborators for Birds include Sveriges Ornitologiska Förening and BirdLife International. ‘Vingarna breddas’ is based on the poem ‘Preludium’ by Tomas Tranströmer.

More info
